Sarah Jane Kyle of the Coloradoan posted a review of the first national tour of Wicked.The show runs through May 20 at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.

She had this to say,”And let’s not forget the awkwardly green complexioned “belle of the ball” Elphaba, played by Mamie Parris. As the witch everyone in Oz loves to hate, Parris’ performance was breathtaking. From snarky quips against the shallow Glinda to her heartfelt and furiously belted out musical performances, Parris stole the hearts of the audience with every word and melody. You couldn’t help but feel her emotions reverberating through your own heart. At times, it was hard to believe Elphaba was merely a character, not a real person coming to share her struggles and strife.”

Wicked Review: The Denver Post

The first National tour of Wicked is in Denver, CO at the Buell Theatre until May 20. Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post Theater Critic, had this to say, “(Mamie) Parris has a rich voice that fills out Elphaba’s sorrow and youthful angst.”

As you all know, Mamie is currently performing as Elphaba in the 1st National tour of ‘Wicked.’ The show is running through April 8 at the Keller Auditorium in Portland, Ore. Holly Johnson provided a special review for The Oregonian and had this to say, “As Elphaba, the lovely, articulate Mamie Parris thankfully keeps her character’s passion in check early on so she can unleash it in the second act.”

Daily Bruin Theatre Review: Wicked

Marjorie Yan of the UCLA Daily Bruin recently reviewed Wicked, saying “(Mamie) Parris also does a spectacular job in playing just the opposite of (Katie Rose) Clarke, a green (literally) character who has no friends and is blamed by her father for why her sister has to be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.”

The first national tour of Wicked is playing in Los Angeles until January 22, 2012.

The first National Tour of Wicked has returned to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California through December 2011. Tiger Online in South Pasadena had this to say about Mamie, “Parris made even more jaws drop in her solo, “Defying Gravity” at the end of the first act. Her powerful voice was even more dominant once she was flying above the stage.”

The first national tour of Wicked is currently at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Ohio until Nov. 26. Mamie, who plays Elphaba, is featured in a review by the Cincinnati City Beat.

“Mamie Parris portrays Elphaba as a character with depth and emotion. We feel her embarrassment, we resonate with her yearning to overcome obstacles, we suffer from her social ostracism and we sense her desire for both justice and acceptance.

What’s more, we love her songs, especially the sorrowful “I’m Not That Girl” and even more her anthemic ‘Defying Gravity.’”

The first national tour of Wicked has recently landed in Peoria, IL. In Gary Panetta’s Peoria Journal Star review, he says this about Mamie’s performance: “For her part, Parris captures not merely how Elphaba changes over the course of the evening — from defensive outsider to self-sacrificial hero — but also how she changes in a single scene. Witness her show-stopping number ‘The Wizard and I.’”
