Marjorie Yan of the UCLA Daily Bruin recently reviewed Wicked, saying “(Mamie) Parris also does a spectacular job in playing just the opposite of (Katie Rose) Clarke, a green (literally) character who has no friends and is blamed by her father for why her sister has to be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.”

The first national tour of Wicked is playing in Los Angeles until January 22, 2012.

The first National Tour of Wicked has returned to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California through December 2011. Tiger Online in South Pasadena had this to say about Mamie, “Parris made even more jaws drop in her solo, “Defying Gravity” at the end of the first act. Her powerful voice was even more dominant once she was flying above the stage.”

The first national tour of Wicked is currently at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Ohio until Nov. 26. Mamie, who plays Elphaba, is featured in a review by the Cincinnati City Beat.

“Mamie Parris portrays Elphaba as a character with depth and emotion. We feel her embarrassment, we resonate with her yearning to overcome obstacles, we suffer from her social ostracism and we sense her desire for both justice and acceptance.

What’s more, we love her songs, especially the sorrowful “I’m Not That Girl” and even more her anthemic ‘Defying Gravity.’”

In Gary Panetta’s Peoria Journal Star review, he says this about Mamie’s performance: “For her part, Parris captures not merely how Elphaba changes over the course of the evening — from defensive outsider to self-sacrificial hero — but also how she changes in a single scene. Witness her show-stopping number ‘The Wizard and I.’”
